My students need a light table, sequencing puzzles, sorting center, giant tracing letters, and other activities and supplies to use during math centers. My students need activities to engage them in counting, addition, subtraction, and much more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a very low-socioeconomic background, and have limited opportunities. Currently many of my students are staying in shelters or with extended family members. My scholars come in each day hungry for breakfast and lunch. As a result of the poverty, the students frequently lack the necessary school supplies.
Despite the many challenges they face, my scholars are a motivated, caring, and energetic group of kindergarten friends.
They come to school excited and ready to learn.
It is my goal to give each child a fulfilling learning experience, while also giving them access to the experiences that other children their age receive.
My Project
My students need a light table, sequencing puzzles, sorting center, giant tracing letters, and other activities and supplies to use during math centers. My students are in need of supplies for engaging math center activities. My kindergarten friends come in every morning motivated, excited to learn despite the conditions they live in.
This project will give my scholars the opportunity to learn through hands on math activities.
Each day we engage in a rotation of math centers to increase skills that will help the students learn number recognition, counting, addition, and subtraction. These centers all are in place to help student build future successes in their math skills as they continue their learning from grade to grade. Sorting trays will help students learn a variety of pattern including shapes, colors, and sizes. I will use the light box manipulatives to let students explore numbers and patterns on their own and in small groups. They will be able to do different math equations, as well as, put the numbers in sequence. Each child will have opportunities to use sequence puzzles on their own and in small groups. These activities will help meet the needs of all of my learners in my classroom.
