My Students

Kindergarten is an exciting time in a child's life. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and yet we come together to form a special school family. It's so important for students to have hands-on learning opportunities to reinforce skills being taught.

My Project

The Kindergarten team is doing a day of hands-on learning the week of Valentine’s Day themed around the Heart. Students will perform 'Heart Surgery' (review Kindergarten skills) in our very own Kinder Cardiology Lab. The items requested will be used for a room transformation during the month of February. We have interactive activities for the students to do in each ‘operating room’ within our classroom. Students will dress up as a surgeon in a lab coat with a stethoscope, surgical gloves, goggles and hair nets then attend stations throughout the lab. While treating their 'patients', students will review key concepts in reading and math such as CVC words, color words, addition and syllables. The students will be actively engaged in hands on learning which makes learning fun and memorable! I will invite parents to assist with this activity so it's a great way to involve the community.
