Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year, my second graders have made incredible strides in their academic learning, but even more importantly, in their social growth and emotional resilience. I am so proud of the way they have learned to navigate their feelings, support one another, and build a kind classroom community! To celebrate their hard work and ensure they feel emotionally prepared for the transition to summer, I would love to create "Mindful Adventure Bags" for each of my students.

Each student will receive a clear summer tote filled with tools designed to support their heart and mind: a "Kind Ninja" book to remind them of the power of empathy, a summer-themed coloring book with stacking crayons for mindful reflection, and fun pens to journal their thoughts.

I am also including scented bookmarks to encourage a love of reading, sunglasses for their "bright" futures, and a beach ball to encourage cooperative play with friends and family.

These intentional gifts are more than just end-of-year treats; they are a portable SEL toolkit. The books and creative supplies will provide a therapeutic outlet for expression and a reminder of the self-regulation skills we’ve practiced all year. By giving them these resources, I am helping them manage the "big feelings" that come with saying goodbye to second grade while keeping their minds active and engaged. These bags will serve as a tangible reminder of how proud I am of their resilience and the "Kind Ninjas" they have become. I want my students to feel celebrated and fully equipped as they embark on their next big adventure: the exciting transition into 3rd grade!
