My students need drum sticks, pop toobs, tambourines, and foam to put on #10 cans to create their own Rhythm Stations! Heavy academics delivered joyfully!
The music room at our school is a place of community, belonging, creativity, and FUN! Our student population is made of individuals from 84 countries speaking 52 different languages! One of the languages we all have in common is MUSIC!
Our school is a full-service community school which provides our students with dental visits, flu shot clinics, access to clothing, shoes, food and SO MUCH MORE!
Our school is the heart of our community. We want to create a place that parents and families WANT to be at even when school is not in session. We even have an after-school program giving our students a taste of "University" which helps grow their love of learning and provides a safe space for continued education and developing relationships.
My Project
These materials will allow me to create a "KidStix" percussion station for my music room that students 1-6 will be able to utilize to practice rhythms in a FUN way! This also will allow them to perform rhythms with classical, popular and folk music for exposure to multiple genres of music. PLUS following rhythms will also enhance students' literacy in and out of the music room!!!
"KidStix" will provide heavy academic content, delivered joyfully.
This curriculum was created by Artie Almeida, a top notch music educator! Each stick station will be placed in a #10 can (with foam padding on the bottom to protect our ears), a pair of drum sticks, a pop toob, a tambourine, and a cutting board for different timbres allowing for a FUN and challenging learning environment.
The creator of this curriculum is all about "heavy academics delivered joyfully" and I cannot wait to provide my students with another new experience to challenge them musically and provide incredible memories for years to come!
