Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a wonderful school with a terrific team of teachers and staff. I am blessed to be working at a school with so much support. My classroom is home to 40 very eager and enthusiastic preschoolers. The majority of my students are low-income, bilingual learners. My students are my inspiration, and they challenge me to open my mind every day. I owe it to them to provide them with nothing but the best. I hope to always be able to provide them with materials that will help inspire their hearts and minds.
My Project
Our classroom is home to various different modes of learning. The majority of my students are tactile learners and love to feel things with their hands. We do so much learning with these materials, and because they can hold them in their hand and manipulate them, it helps activate their brains. Having materials like Play-Doh and water sensory beads also allows my students to practice and use their fine-motor skills. It's an important skill that is developed in the early childhood years. These materials will allow my students to use their small muscles to try and control their fingers and thumbs. This will help them become independent in self-help skills like buttoning and zippering their jackets and sets the foundation for school readiness by helping to develop their writing and drawing skills.
