My Students
I teach in a high poverty school in the town I grew up in. I love first grade because my kids come to school everyday excited to learn and excited to see me! My kids come from diverse backgrounds, some are learning English as a second language, while others come from local Indian tribes. I strive to make my classroom a safe place to be while maintaining very high standards for achievement and behavior.
My team and I work collaboratively to engage and enrich the learning of every single child that walks through the door.
We love 1st grade and the kids love being here.
My Project
We need a kidney table to help everyone in my room get what they need! I plan to use this kidney table to help struggling students get one-on-one support in a more comfortable setting. I need to be able to reach all of the students I am working with due to their age and ability level.
Working at a kidney table will help my students be more able to ask me questions and show me what they need assistance with.
Furthermore this table will become a place where kids can work away from others as needed. Sometimes you just need to sit next to your teacher to feel more confident.
Small groups reading is an essential part of 1st grade. Our kidney table will allow for more ease of sharing ideas and collaborating during reading.
