Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the best grade, Transitional Kindergarten! "What is that?" most people ask. I tell them it is a developmentally appropriate learning environment for children who are not yet five; therefore, they can not yet enter kindergarten in the state of California.

TK is all about building relationships, foundational skills and social emotional development.

We focus on hands-on activities that teach through play and art. My school is what some people consider a high poverty, high risk school. I like to think it means we just have to be a highly creative school. We are a community school that has the whole community behind us. My class is just the first stop in a school wide support system, that is dedicated to the success of every child.

My Project

My student come to school everyday masked up and reading to learn. However the masks that they are wearing are not doing the job. They droop down, they get wet, they cover the whole face or not enough of the face!

We just need masks that fit children's faces!

My school tries to do a good job at providing masks for all students. However they are often too big and don't work for my smaller TK students faces. Please help me provide masks that will help protect my little ones!
