Kid Power!

Help me give my students a set of thirty UNICEF Kid Power Bands and the opportunity to give back to others while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

My Students

My class starts every day with the promise, "Let's make it a great day!" They enter the room excited to learn. They are a group of students who have embraced the idea of being a community of learners who are always there for each other. They are full of wonder. Throughout the school year I watch them develop their ability to delve into a task and problem solve. Our school is built on the idea of community.

We are an ELL center based school and have a high level of diversity which is embraced by staff, students, and the entire community.

We are also a Title I School where 72% of our students receive free or reduced cost lunch. We do not let these things define us, rather we all work harder to overcome any obstacles that the students face that we cannot change. Students and staff give 100%.

My Project

These Kid Power UNICEF bands will provide my students with an exciting and engaging way to monitor their physical activity. These bands are designed to encourage students to strive for a healthier lifestyle. Kid Power excites students into becoming activist of change by providing them with the wonderful opportunity of giving back to children in need around the world. The UNICEF Kid Power Band will be used along with the UNICEF to make a difference in the world. My students will get physical activity to keep them healthy and UNICEF will donate RUTF food packets to starving children.

Through this program, students understand that they can make a difference, even at their age, by doing something small that in turn will help them maintain good health through our physical activities.

These bands help kids get up and get active while giving back. Students receive activity trackers from UNICEF kidpower. These devices are wristbands that count their steps and tells them how many points they have earned. These points translate into food packets for malnourished children across the globe. Therefore, the benefit is twofold: it gets my students moving, encouraging physical activity, while this enables them to get moving and do good for others at the same time. Please help me provide my students with the ability to give on to others while striving for a healthier lifestyle.
