My Students

Students in my school come from a low-income area where 99% of them are awarded free lunch. Many of them come from broken homes, bounce around to different relatives, and some are even in shelters. The school has 5-7 classes on each grade, and many classrooms have many students with special needs who need a little extra TLC, visuals, and repetition. My school offers these kids a warm, safe, and loving environment daily.

Although most students have a tough start in life, they come to school eager to learn and do their very best.

My Project

My student's project has kick bands and wobbly cushions. Another previous project was funded with kick bands. Unfortunately, not all of the students got them and it would be amazing for every student to have the opportunity to have the choice of having a kick band if they think it would help their ADHD tendencies. Additionally, my student's project also has some wobbly cushions. Wobbly cushions go on their seats and allow for minimal movement to release energy, while not distracting others.

Both the kick bands and wobbly cushions support active movement and keep students more focused on their work, while being less distracting to their peers.
