This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school serves a very diverse population. Students come from low to middle class homes in the surrounding community. The Hispanic population is growing rapidly year by year, including numerous students that are just learning English. 42% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and face various challenges inside and outside of the classroom.
My students are very creative, kind hearted, and want to succeed.
Students need access to materials, so that their parents do not have to struggle to make sure that they have everything that they need.
My Project
My goal is to provide students with bluetooth keyboards to help them be successful when they have writing assignments in class. With schools and colleges moving more and more to going paperless, students need to learn how to type and format papers appropriately which cannot always be done on a cell phone.
Because we are not a 1:1 school, many students use their cell phones to type papers and do research.
I would like for them to have access to bigger keyboards so they do not have to cramp their fingers with their phones. This will also get them accustomed to a regular size keyboard for higher grades.
