Keyboards Are The Key to Success

My Students

Students in my school come from various backgrounds. We have a high ENL population where students are learning languages such as Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Spanish, Urdu, and more. I love teaching lessons that are engaging and motivational. To do this, I take students' interests into account, including the use of visuals, colorfulness, technology, hands-on experiences, field trips, etc.

My school is located in the heart of Flushing, NY.

We embrace diversity and are inclusive to all. Many of my students come from low-income homes and are grateful and easily excited by things that some of us take for granted. I am grateful for them and their willingness to learn from me in our learning environment that we build together.

My Project

My students are engaged and excited when they are using iPads. When they are used for extended writing purposes, the aid of a keyboard is very helpful for my students who have difficulty typing on the screen. I know that I find it difficult as an adult to type in that fashion and prefer a keyboard as many of my students do as well. Additionally, some of my students have difficulty with fine motor skills, so this can be an extra support.

These keyboards are placed in protective cases which will put my at ease to know that our precious devices will be safe.

We try to use best practices to ensure that we are utilizing our devices to their best potential while respecting them and keeping them safe. One last part of this project are two portable chargers to help when a device needs a boost and there are no outlets to spare--this happens so often so this added tool will assist us very much.
