Keyboards and Benches Needed

My Project

I teach music at a Title I school in suburban South Carolina. The students make up forty-one classes in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, including special ed, regular ed, and gifted students. Many of these students come from low-income​ families and they rely on teachers or the school for their materials. All of my students love new experiences. They are always eager to get involved in learning.

Our mascot is the “Busy Bee” and we certainly stay busy trying to make every moment count in music class!

My students LOVE playing instruments, especially keyboards! Many of them do not have the opportunity to learn basic piano skills outside of school. The keyboards in our music room have been there longer than I have so I know they are at least 18 years old. As to be expected, some of them are starting to wear out. All of the "G" notes on one of them quit working. And on another one, there is a key that plays 2 notes when you press the key. This is very frustrating for my students as they are focused and working so hard on learning to play songs. We would like to start by replacing two keyboards as well as a few benches that have worn out due to use over the years. My students and I are so appreciative of any help given!
