My Students

Hello Potential Donor!

I am an Adapted Physical Education Teacher in Los Angeles.

It is my passion to work with individuals with disabilities and provide instruction and opportunities for physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. In addition to my teachings, I coordinate our partnership Special Olympics School Games Program for kindergarten to 8th grade students. With the growth of our program, I am happy to say that there are now over 4,600 students with hundreds of schools now participating in our events! In the fall, we have soccer tournaments, and in the spring, is our track and field events. All of which are hosted throughout Los Angeles Unified School District. For many students with disabilities, especially in lower income areas within Los Angeles, opportunities and funding can be sparse. Programs like School Games, provides sporting opportunities in a competitive setting. Not only do the students with disabilities benefit, but their parents, community, staff members, school, and their non-disabled peers. The mission of School Games is to incorporate all collaborative parties to work together to create an inclusive event. Seeing the smiles upon the students’ faces is why our events exists. Help us support School Games!

My Project

During our events, we have over 400+ students paperwork including their health conditions, permission slips, photograph releases, and other pertinent information and paperwork required for our events. To help keep everything organized, file boxes, hanging file folders, and pens are essential to maintain our students information. Many times during the event, we refer to our files to find specific forms needed. Having a file box, especially on wheels, makes it much more portable to move across an athletic field especially in an emergency. We currently have an older file box, however, having one on wheels will make a huge impact while moving across a large football stadium.
