Help me give my students literature/data folders so that they can feel prepared for class. Having fun, high quality supplies helps students feel like a part of the class and engage more fully in lessons.
Students who enrolled in my class are an awesome group of kids! All of them are in the 8th grade. Many of them would tell you they don’t really enjoy school, yet they come to my class prepared to work hard. These students have been placed in my class because they scored at or below the 25th percentile in reading on a recent standardized assessment. Most of them are (ESE) Special Education Students and (ELL) English Language learners who struggle with understanding and mastering the skills of reading and writing.
Despite the negative experiences they have encountered in their academic career with reading and writing, this group of students amazes me with their continued participation and accountability as their comprehension and vocabulary skills increase.
My Project
Basic needs like pocket folders, pencils, pens, paper, and textbooks help students engage in lessons, as they gain knowledge which they can bring back to their community to improve overall welfare. You can help children in school by giving them the tools they need to succeed.
By providing school supplies, you are supporting students and teachers.
Many families are struggling. With more than half of our students enrolled in the free and reduced meal programs, many parents are unable to provide the basic school supplies their children need to be effective.
Pocket folders keep the students work organized in their backpacks. Folders are a necessity in my intensive reading classroom! Being able to give students quality pocket folders helps them to keep up with their daily progress and place to keep important writings. Thank you for considering our classroom!
