My Students
We are a part of a low-income/high poverty school, and are faced with many challenges both in and out of school. My students this year are highly motivated learners. They are an active and vibrant bunch, and love to take on new challenges and ownership of their learning. Most school supplies are provided by the teachers. With limited resources, it is challenging to help promote student curiosity and engage students in learning. Having more resources in the classroom is what we are striving for. We hope to be able to help close the achievement gap.
My Project
We have been lucky enough to have received donations of chromebooks and donors choose chromebooks in our classroom. I am currently up to 12 chromebooks, but we struggle to organize them. They are currently sitting in a crate which makes it difficult for students to access them and plug them in. They are stored inconveniently in the corner of my room and I would like to make them more easily accessible. Right now it takes several minutes to access the technology, and having a better way to store and organize our technology center would greatly cut back on transition time and allow students more time on the computers. Having the magnetic pockets will allow me to provide students with leveled work for the computers that they can access while creating their research projects.
