Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a very large and diverse community. The population is 80% minority and 71% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Many students in the community lack the necessary resources to be 21st century students.
Many of my students work late hours and many of them also struggle at home due to circumstances often beyond their control.
A significant portion of these students are losing out on valuable instruction at a crucial time in their high school careers. These same students are often engaged, motivated and highly animated as the day progresses, but the 7:30 AM start is something none of us have the ability to change.
My students are creative, bright, and hard-working and if they are given access to appropriate resources will be better prepared for college or career.
My Project
The charging cart will be used in my classroom to securely store the class Chromebooks.
The classroom space that I have does not have a safe place for me to put the 11 Chromebooks that I currently have.
My students also have to take turns charging the Chromebooks because there are not enough outlets in the classroom. These problems make it difficult for my students to access the technology that they need in the classroom.
The charging cart will allow the Chromebooks to be stored securely and safely while charging so that each student has access to the Chromebooks as they are needed.
