In today's technology driven world, students in high school need to have access to technology everyday. In the diverse community that I teach in, many of my students do not have computer access at home and limited access at school. I would like for my students to be able to research and explore topics related to class themes and assignments. Currently, many of my students lack basic computing skills, and my hope is that by using computers daily in the classroom, I will be able to help students gain the skills to improve college and career readiness and improve student outcomes. I am requesting laptops to use on a daily basis in my classroom. The laptops would allow my students more access to research and inquiry projects, as well as improve computing skills. Additionally, increased access to technology resources will help my students to develop the 21st century skills that are necessary for them to be successful beyond high school. To evaluate the impact of this initiative, I will track student use of the computers, and how it has led to improved student performance and engagement in my classroom.
