This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of working with middle school and high school students. A large portion of the population lives below the poverty line in neighboring housing projects and identify as people of color. Many of my students are helping to care for younger siblings and older family members.

A substantial number of my students will be returning to in-person learning and I want to motivate them to commit to academic excellence.

In the past few months, my job has been to offer support to my scholars as they move closer to high school graduation.

My Project

Unfortunately, NYC is again experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases. Students have returned to school fearful and sick. I'm trying to keep them safe and secure. The requested supplies will help my students remain safe in our chilly school building.

I plan to wipe down desks, chairs and door handles every period.

I will be handing out headbands to students who are cold. I will give snacks and water to all students that are hungry.

We will fight to get through this because we cannot afford to miss any learning opportunities.
