Keeping Our Bodies Nourished During Reading!
My students need healthy snacks and the novels "Stone Fox" and "Frindle" to keep them energized during our novel study meetings.
My students LOVE to read and are ready to be challenged through novel studies...but their bodies are saying "I'M HUNGRY!"
I am a third grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school.
I have a very diverse group of students this school year. Many of my students come from impoverished home situations and do not have opportunities for healthy snacks. I want to provide my students with healthy snack options during the school day while we focus on improving our reading skills.
Everyday my students participate in Response to Intervention reading groups. This is where each student receives instruction focusing on his/her individual weakness to make them stronger readers. My group contains stronger readers who are ready to dive into more difficult novels and engage in rich literature discussions. But my students seem starved when they come to group time. FEED USA and I want to provide my students with the nourishment they need to strive academically. The snacks I am seeking will give my students the boost their bodies need to be energized and ready to read, discuss and engage in rich literature discussions and activities.
Please help FEED USA and I provide my students with nutritious and delicious snacks to nourish their bodies and keep them energized while they enhance their reading comprehension abilities.
