Keeping My Students' Thinking Organized

Help me give my students a method of creating their own "think tanks" for the literature we study with these reusable report covers.

My Students

My students are working in a literature class that targets specific skills geared toward critical thinking and problem solving. We work on reading fiction and non-fiction with a strong emphasis on critical reading and writing, all while working to connect content to more global ideas and perspectives. These connections are what my students find most meaningful.

My students are highly motivated, energetic, inquisitive students.

My students love to be engaged in the work of the class and have fun while grappling with rigorous content. We love to have fun! However, my students understand the seriousness of our work. They are willing to "dig in" and make meaning of their learning. My students are also upperclassmen who are focused on advancing their learning to get prepared for college.

My Project

Students struggle with organization, and these report covers will help me create journals for their work. We complete a variety of activities when we work with novels, and the report covers will assist my students in creating a system to keep track of their thinking and depth of understanding as we read.

Creating a "think tank" for my students is the goal.

Students love to have tangible products that show them what they have achieved. These report covers will make the work feel important, and they will also help with student engagement. Students will have a place to keep their work, and as a result, I will be better able to assess their learning and their future needs as we work through the year.
