Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a beautiful group of pre-k students in Providence, RI. They enjoy music, gross motor activities, center play, and being a part of their school community. We do our best to adapt everything we do to meet the unique needs of our students.

I have a very diverse group of learners.

My students are medically fragile with very significant learning needs. My students are all nonverbal and non-ambulatory. Many of my students are visually impaired. I also have students who are deaf and hearing impaired. We use a lot of assistive technology to give our students a voice and access the curriculum with more independence. Preschool is all about learning through play. It is very important to have centers with appropriate material to help the students explore and learn. It would be great to improve the quality of their centers with new resources.

My Project

COVID is on the rise again, and our students are attending school in person every day. Our district has tried to provide us with as much PPE as possible, but we are running out of necessary protective material. The students in my classroom are medically fragile. It is imperative that we have students who can wear masks, wear masks. Their masks have to be changed several times a day due to secretions. This puts a strain on our supply. We also need to sanitize furniture, equipment, services, and objects frequently throughout the day. The material we are asking for will greatly help us with keeping our kiddos safe, healthy, and present in school this year!
