Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Math is a subject students either love or hate. At this time when my students are working from home, I am struggling to get students to buy in and try. I am trying numerous websites and strategies, but even when I talk to them on the phone, they say, "Mr., I have trouble in school with you right there helping me. How am I suppose to do this without you?"

My students need ME teaching them because relationships have been built and I know what they need.

I have learned so much through this distance learning that I know my teaching will never be the same. Over the last month, I have had to research and find the most effective online resources for my students. These online resources will not go away when I return. I will be using the best ones to supplement my instruction and give students multiple ways to learn topics, ensuring as many students as possible are successful.

My Project

This project is for 3 Chromebooks to store in my classroom. Most students have devices, but all too often, they forget them at home or they are not fully charged. I am looking to have a few Chromebooks that students can borrow while in class.

Through this unique and challenging distance learning situation, I have learned so much as an educator.

I cannot wait to get back to my classroom with my newest bag of tricks. I have found so many resources, that I will be able to present topics and ideas to students in far more ways than I already do. With all these opportunities to learn, I know more students will be successful and grow as mathematicians and as people. Thank you for your consideration and know that these Chromebooks will support hundreds of students.
