Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
First grade is an exciting place to be where students are learning to read and write. Some of my students are learning to read and write words while others are working on basic phonetic sounds. They are all eager to learn and enjoy sharing new things they are learning.
We are a Title I school with about 70% of our students living in poverty.
My students are creative and eager to learn. They deserve every opportunity to reach their full potential. Most of our morning is filled with literacy activities that require reading, sharing stories, and writing.
My Project

Most of our morning is filled with literacy activities that require reading, sharing stories, and writing. My students love reading and work hard to reach the reading goals they set each week. However, we have a limited number of leveled books for the kids to take home. I would like to print leveled books for my students to take home and build their personal library. Reading should not be something we only do at school. I want them to be excited about building their own collection of books at home. With this HP ink, Swingline paper trimmer, and Power Pro stapler I will be able to give the students colored books to enjoy. Reading at home should be enjoyed by all. I would also like to continue to enhance my classroom with an interactive word wall using the Subang sticky dots, sentence strips and Sharpie markers. This will allow my students to continue to take ownership of their own writing. Reading and Writing will allow my students the opportunity to excel in life.
