My Students

My students are third graders between ages 8-9 at an affiliated charter school. Each and every child is an important member of my class. I refer to my class as a family as we treat each other with respect and kindness like a family should.

Each day my students enter our classroom full of eagerness to learn, courage to take risks and work to the best of their abilities.

My students are hard-working kids who have big dreams for their futures!

My Project

We know that not all students learn in the same way. We’ve had a traditional seating arrangement in school classrooms for hundreds of years which is outdated.

My plan is to add three stand-up desks which will allow students to have the experience of standing while working, seeing how it affects their learning process.

Having taught elementary school students for 23 years, I know that many students have sensory needs which could be met with the use of a stand-up desk. A small accommodation such as the use of a stand-up desk could have a big impact on a child’s success in class!
