it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a school counselor and I work with all students from kindergarten through 5th grades in a title 1 school in Newark Delaware. I work with children facing many different challenges one a daily bases ranging from academic, social emotional, economic, and other matters students may be having struggles daily.
I meet and work with students in their classrooms, the lunch room, during recess, and sometimes just walking and talking in the hallway.
My days consist of observing students in the in their classrooms and in the hallways, interacting with them during lunch and recess, and working with students one on one or small group setting in my office. I support the whole child by helping them to think less of their everyday challenges and to focus more on their academic success.
My Project
The materials for my project will make a difference in student's learning by keeping them focused on learning and less on what they don't have. By supply students with hygiene products they don't have at home, they won't have to sit in class wondering if their classmates can smell their breath or body odor because they didn't have the necessary supplies to take care of those things at home.
Students need to be able to come to school and not think of not eating that morning or how they smell.
The breakfast bars and crackers are for them to snack on if they came to school late of are extra hungry be the may not have eaten the night before and breakfast was their first meal since lunch the day before, or just because they came to school late.
The hats and gloves are for those students whose parents may not be able to afford to get those things for them. They also be for students who lost the ones they had and just need some replacements. Everything that I am asking for will help students be able to focus on learning and completing assignments in school and at home.
