Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first grade students are eager to learn! They have been working hard all year and are now able to self regulate. However, sometimes they need time and space alone in order to continue learning.

We have a calm corner in the classroom that allows for them to spend some time alone to deescalate their feelings and adding a sensory seat and art supplies will allow them the necessary tools to calm down.

We will read aloud our book about empathy to understand how others feel when they are in the calm down corner. This will allow the rest of the class to understand those in the calm down corner that they need time and space to get back to work.
