Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. They come to school each day ready to learn in order to grow both personally and academically. Now, with all of our students expected to learn through distance learning, it is imperative that we find ways to engage them in school.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, SQUAD word, and engaging activities and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year.
My Project
Have you met a student that doesn't love science? Neither have I! Science is a subject that all my students love, and look forward to attending every day. We practice making observations and inferences by looking at scientific pictures of interesting things that are familiar and unfamiliar to us! We look through our house to find elements in common household items, and we talk about the orange skies in California. However, science is not enough to engage students during distance learning....
Engaging students during class is crucial for the development of future scientists!
Having access to an iPad and its support accessories can help me create interactive and unique videos and learning materials that will help students stay involved and engaged during distance learning, and it will promote further interest in science. My students have already shown that they love science, but help us stay engaged and stay focused on science at home.
