My Students

I teach at a high school in Southern California. Our students come from a diverse background from which 33% are Hispanic, 7% are Special Ed, and 58% are on free and reduced lunch. and are eager to learn. Biology is a class that every student must take in order to graduate.

The students here are very energetic and eager to learn.

One of their favorite things to do in my class is lab so I try to fill in as many labs as I possibly can. I love to see them collaborating together and the fun they have with the labs.

My Project

Keep Calm and Safety Glasses ON will be the theme at the beginning of each of my Biology labs. We are in the process of transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Safety glasses will allow for more challenging and in depth lab activities. For most of the students, this is their first time engaging in these types of laboratory activities.

My students will have the opportunity to participate in labs that include the use of chemicals and materials that require them to protect their eyes.

My students' laboratory skills will be improved and they will learn to collaborate with others.
