My students need STEM supplies that will engage their senses to help them acquire science, math, engineering, problem solving, and literacy skills that will lead to a love of learning!
This project expired on December 13, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are a Title I, First Step Pre-Kindergarten center in Newport News. We are the largest in the area. Our school accepts students that are identified as academically high risk and we provide school readiness activities for 4 and 5 year old children in full day programs.
Most of our students come from low-income households.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch meal each day. We have 18 students in our class who will benefit greatly from this project.
My preschool students will love learning with these STEM activities throughout the whole day.
My students will work together with hands-on materials to solve a problem and celebrate their outcome.
The Engineer a Coaster will let them work together to create a coaster. The build and blue print will have them building houses like we see in the community. The Gingerbread Stem kit will have them working with one of their favorite stories to come up with a plan and then to see if they can find a way to save the gingerbread man. Hand on learning while becoming problem solvers.
