My Students

My Kindergarten classroom is made up of 20 unique children from many different cultures, languages, and experiences. Our school is Title I and mostly serves children living in poverty.

My students are amazing and love to learn!

They are funny, caring, energetic, and eager to learn new things! For some of my students, this is their first experience in a classroom setting, while others attended preK or childcare. Despite the differences, my students love and respect each other, and engage with one another during their learning experiences.

My Project

This year my Kindergarten students have been studying different themed units based off of the State of Maine's K for ME curriculum. My students have been very engaged in learning about Communities, and our most current unit of study: Animals and Habitats. Aligning with these units are specific read alouds that go with the lesson plans K for ME has to offer.

I need read aloud books in my students hands!

Throughout the first unit of study, Communities, I was relying on video read aloud options to share stories with my students. Thanks to Donors Choose and our amazing classroom supporters, one of my most recent funded projects provided my classroom with the unit books for both Communities, and Animals and Habitats. It has made a huge difference in our book conversations, and has made it easier to pause our reading and discuss the book. This project will provide books for our upcoming unit on Construction! All of these books, will align with lesson plans provided by K for ME curriculum.
