We teach amazing Kindergarten students! Each day we are greeted by 18 students, who are eager and ready to take on our fun day of learning. These Kindergarten students have been given the opportunity to begin their education in a brand new school in Brooklyn. The students are motivated and filled with excitement each day, and are ready to learn new strategies to help them learn how to read, write and complete math problems. We are constantly encouraging our students to have open ended discussions with each other and to explain their thinking. They enjoy working together and helping each other understand new concepts and ideas.
We have created a positive learning environment which instills a love of learning and joy in all of our students.
They are wonderful children who deserve to have all the materials and resources they need in order to succeed in all subject areas. Our school motto is "What we learn with joy, we never forget." We strive to find the gifted and talented in all of our students. We do this by teaching through challenging curriculums, project based learning and creating engaging and hands on lessons for all types of learners.
My Project
As I said, our school is a brand new school! All of us, in K-2 are lucky to have been given the opportunity to begin our school year together in a new home, away from home. We have supplied our classroom with many different fun and engaging activities and books. With the year progressing and our kinders developing academically, our home is in need of more, and different materials and resources in order to expand our class and centers. The donations we have asked for will enhance our students' learning abilities, and will continue to keep them engaged and excited to enter our classroom!
Our kinders are eager to continue to learn their sight words, read with fluency, answer comprehension questions and solve multi step math problems.
We have asked for different materials which will engage all of our different types of learners. The library storage cart and bins will keep our classroom library organized for our students, and will help our ENL students recognize each of the categorized bins with the letter and corresponding picture. It will also allow our students to choose leveled reading books of their choice, which will give them the opportunity to read independently, with a partner as well as, take home to read to their family.
The educational math and literacy games will be used daily within our classroom and will support all of our learners. The games will support our students’ math skills, sight word knowledge, phonemic awareness, fluency and mathematical skills.
