This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching twenty-four, super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
My first graders have very little, so giving them new school supplies, encourages them to do their best. DonorsChoose.org has been a God sent because without donors, my students would have next to nothing. Keeping basic supplies on hand is very important for a first grade classroom. Pencils, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils, and markers are all part of our daily needs.
With these basic supplies, my students will be able to participate in daily first grade activities.
We do a lot of cut and paste lessons because these activities keep young minds actively engaged in learning. Please consider a donation to our much needed necessities. Thank you!
