My Students

I teach in a high poverty, K-4 school in a rural area of the South. We have some of the most amazing students around, and they deserve every advantage and opportunity available. I do not want for their socioeconomic status to impact the quality of education that they will receive.

I always tell the students in my classroom that they will become a family for the school year.

Families help each other, give support and grow together. As the teacher, I want to support my children with all of the resources that I can because some come from families that through no fault of their own are unable to provide them with all of the materials that they need to become successful.

My Project

Think back to the first day of school when you were younger. Remember how excited you were to go shopping for new school supplies and how proud you were to pull them out and show all of your friends? That is the feeling that I want for all of my students to have starting their fourth grade year. Yes, some students will have families who are able to buy them all of the items that they need, but unfortunately some will not.

The supplies that I am requesting are necessary for everyday class activities such as writing, creating interactive notebooks and making STEM projects.

These items will be used on a daily basis and are essential for all students. They include crayons, paper, composition books, markers, scissors, glue and other common classroom necessities.
