Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We started school this year and my students were enthusiastic about starting a new year in a new school! I soon realized there were great readers and enthusiastic learners in the room, but many did not have the necessary supplies to academically succeed.

I learned through discussions that many of my students came from disadvantaged families and were unable to go to a store.

They don't have supplies in the home. The only place for them to have the opportunity to get some supplies for the year is in the classroom. My students need a classroom filled with lots of opportunities for organizational tools, writing implements and basic supplies to get them through the day.

My Project

By donating to our project, my students will have what they need to start their day. Many of my students come from impoverished homes and cannot afford the basic supplies for school. They need school supplies to succeed.

They often come to school with just the clothes on their back, and with an empty backpack.

This project will set them up for success. The pencils, folders and post it notes will help them in their reading/writing groups. The colored pencils will add color to their literacy projects.
