This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 24 super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
My first graders just need basic supplies. We are asking for pencils, crayons, and a classroom pencil sharpener. Most of my students can’t afford school supplies, so we try our best to provide just the basic things for school.
Having new pencils, crayons, and a good pencil sharpener helps these six and seven year olds feel special.
A new box of crayons and new pencils help them do their very best work. These first graders enjoy having anything new. First graders use many pencils and crayons throughout the school year, and we try our best to make these supples last. Please consider a donation to our “Something to Write With” project.
