Just Right Books for Just Right Kids!
My students need fiction and nonfiction chapter books.
Reading is the foundation to learning. As a reading teacher to 4th grade students, exposure to a variety of books are essential to everyday learning.
My students live and go to school in a high poverty area of a big city.
They do not get the opportunities to read at home. School is where they get the most exposure to books. It is essential to have a classroom library full of "just right" books that they can chose from to help them develop a love for reading.
Students will use these books every day not only in class but also at home. They will use the books during daily independent reading and also be able to check out books to read at home. The books will also be used to help improve reading skills by allowing the students to use books that interest them and have them work in critical skills like plot, authors purpose and summarizing.
Having "just right" books in the classroom will allow my students to read books at their levels, and develop a love for reading.
They will be able to increase vocabulary, comprehension and fluency using the books
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
