Help me give my students a place to store our leveled library for small group/ guided reading time. This cart will allow me to organize the books according to their levels.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am excited to be moving from fifth grade to sixth grade with my students this year. They are an amazing group of students that I have been lucky enough to teach in second, fifth, and now sixth grade. My school serves students from Kindergarten through eighth grade. We are a Title I school and all our students are eligible to receive free lunches.
My students are hardworking and eager to learn.
Unfortunately, these amazing students don't always have access to some basic supplies that students take for granted! Many students don't come to school with a pencil, let alone the one binder needed for all 3 of my classes.
My Project
This cart will allow me to organize books according to their levels. I teach 6th grade, but many of my students are below grade level readers. I actually have readers that plan four different grade levels so I need books to meet students where they are.
This cart will allow students to find books that are just right for them.
They will be able to read more independently since they will be able to find books that are on their independent reading levels. I will still provide them access to grade level instruction, but now they can read alone and feel successful.
