Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a school with 80% poverty, over 60% are English language learners (or non-English speaking), and there are high trauma rates.
My students are eager to learn and grow!
I want them to be excited to come to school, to feel welcomed, included, encouraged, and supported.
My Project
Kindergarteners are learning so many new things. In addition to academics, they are still developing their fine motor skills.
It is important that each student has tools the right size for his/her growing hands.
This order contains the jumbo size crayons and pencils. These are easier for them to grasp. Coloring also takes a long time for little ones so the bigger size helps them with that. The golf pencils help teach correct pencil grip because there isn't room for the child to put their whole fist around the pencil. The magnets will be used to mark the different sounds in words.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
