Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a chance for outside play three times a week. These items will give them a chance to get physical. Children who are physically active learn better.
My student are in an ESE self contained class.
We have students from kindergarten to 5th grade in our public school. Our school has a high poverty level. Many students qualify for free lunch. Currently, my class has limited outdoor equipment to use during recess. The playground is fine to use however, no purposeful play is evident.
My Project
Currently our equipment is limited for outside play. The numbers ring toss game, balls, catch cups, hoops and activity kit would add to my dream of having teacher recess with purposeful play. Having these items to use would increase physical activity levels for my students. The items will develop eye hand coordination, strength and dexterity.
Many of my students are overweight.
They are lacking a chance to be physical. Maybe its where they live or maybe parents won't let them play outside...whatever the reason, this equipment will give them the opportunity they have been missing.
