There truly are no words to describe the kids at my school. Our students struggle with poverty and an abundance of home life issues, yet they come to school not only ready to learn but ready to lead. We are a Leader in Me school so our students have a voice in almost everything that goes on here. Every class has jobs that the students do and they love it! We have students who greet every person who comes in in the morning. We have students who help with car duty and bus duty. We have students who are in charge of school tours for business leaders and parents.
In our classroom we have a ton of jobs as well.
In my room the kids are in charge, I just facilitate. I even have students who teach when I am absent so the sub just has to be there to help keep everyone on task. My 6th-8th grade students write their own lesson plans and are in complete charge of their own learning. This opens the class up to an overwhelming amount of individualized instruction. My students truly are the most amazing kids ever.
My Project
These are just some bare minimum basic supplies for the kids. We are running out of many of the supplies we need as children cannot share. I sent home tons of stuff with kids for last year to work from home. Now we are down to some pretty necessary basics. With these supplies, I can create individual packs that I can collect and sanitize in order for the kids to have more opportunities. Especially with the paints, without them, I am not sure how we will pull off painting from a cart.
