My Students

Our classroom chairs wobble and spin; they are rickety and uneven. Students are distracted by sitting in them, and sometimes spend more time trying to find a seat that works than working on learning.

The students in my physical science class are curious and eager to learn.

They are diverse in background and perspective, which always makes class interesting. Over 70% of the students at our school receive free or reduced lunch, which means their families are focused on providing basic needs.

My Project

We need a full classroom set of new chairs. Thirty-two new chairs for 32 eager, energetic science students. At this point, I'm asking for 8 because that's the scope of my donor's choice grant. Even a few new chairs moves us in the right direction. Throughout the year, I plan to continue upgrading our chairs.

Basic classroom setup is important to creating a good learning environment for students.

Because the majority of my students come from an unstable or transitional environment, making our classroom safe and functional is a priority for me. Removing unnecessary distractions means we can all focus on exploring new ideas.
