Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My sixth graders are dedicated and passionate students filled with scientists, engineers, mathematicians, writers, and avid readers. They are eleven and twelve-year-olds who come to school each day to prepare for life's daily obstacles. I teach 33 students in our 6th-grade class. We have students who are new to the country and learning English for the first time. We have students from dynamic family homes in which they seek our home (classroom) as a refuge. They use inquiry thinking and have a thirst for literacy and positive social skills with their peers and teachers. Each child has a personal goal in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and positive behaviors. A majority of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, thus this motivates them to work hard and dream big! For a large population, they will become the first generation in their families to go to college or a trade school. #jrhighbound

My Project

The flexible seating wobble chairs will help all learners feel comfortable while completing class assignments. Also, the stools will help with small collaborative groups, in which they need to be able to be close to actively listen to one another's thoughts and ideas. Sixth-grade students are very independent and will use the items with care and respect.

The standing height tables will give the option to work in an area where they can stand, and stretch from being seated throughout the day.

The wobble coushins will also allow a textured seating option that can be used for tactile learners that support their individual learning needs and style.

Creating this flexible seating environment will promote class unity within each subject area. Thanks for considering our classroom!
