This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is very supportive of the arts, but due to budget constraints I didn't receive any art materials for this upcoming year for my art studio. We desperately need the basics of glue and paper, especially since we will be having a total of six pre-k classes this upcoming year!
My vivacious and creative students are from a high needs public elementary school in NYC.
They are eager to make art but are lacking basic art supplies, which are desperately needed in our art studio by September! Our school community really values our art program and the students' artwork that has been hung up throughout the school and I would like to continue that tradition.
My Project
This donation will be used for collage projects. All the artwork made in our art studio supplements what the children are learning with their classroom teacher in social studies. So the collage materials will be used in second grade to make urban communities, will be used in kindergarten to make family collage story quilts, and will be used in third grade to make African masks.
Your donation will make a huge difference because art plays a fundamental part of a child's education and using collage is essential for young children to develop fine motor skills in order to meet developmental and grade level benchmarks.
