This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach PE in a low-income school district, and my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. As they navigate through life's challenges, I want to arm them with the health and wellness tools they need to be successful in the gym, in the classroom, and out in the world.
Physical fitness is closely linked with academic and personal success.
My students are hard working, clever, and very energetic.
They like to play games, compete with one another, and cheer each other on. My students enjoy learning new skills in gym class, and work hard to set and reach their goals. They are proud of their accomplishments.
My Project
Jump ropes are extremely beneficial for students in physical education class! They are incredibly versatile and can be used in relatively small spaces, and can travel outdoors or in hallways. These jump ropes can be used by children of all ages to improve coordination, balance, endurance, and overall cardiac health.
Jump ropes build confidence, as students of differing skill levels will experience a high degree of success.
Students can compete against one another in a safe and friendly environment and learn to win and lose gracefully. Above all else, jump ropes are fun! My students will really enjoy having jump ropes to use in gym class.
