My Students

Do you remember what Kindergarten was like when you were in school? We played all day and learned how to get along with our friends. The standards for Kindergarten are now the way they were in first grade. Children need to have fun while learning. These materials will help them to have fun, too!

My students are from an urban school in New York State.

It is a public school and children are bussed into school from all over the city. Our school has a poverty rate of 83% based on free or reduced lunches. The children are a busy and very active group! I have 22 students with a wide variety of academic needs.

My Project

I'm asking for items that will help my children enjoy learning and get some exercise at the same time. I have asked for a hopscotch mat and number toss game to help them learn their numbers and a spelling mat to help them learn to spell and sound out three letter words. The Common Core Standards that our state has adopted requires Kindergarten students to read and count to 100 when they leave my classroom.

We all know how important it is for students to get exercise during the school day. It helps them to retain what they have learned and it gets them motivated to learn. These items will be used year after year in my classroom. The items will benefit hundreds of students!
