Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project aims to support the dedicated and hardworking taekwondo students at our School. The goal for this project is to provide students with the equipment and supplies needed to help them develop their taekwondo skills and level up to the next rank. I use colored tape as a motivation and assessment tool by awarding a different color of tape on my students' belts when they master a skill in taekwondo.

The tape acts as a physical representation of skills my students have mastered and drives them to trying their best and meeting their goals.

Once students have earned all six different colored tapes on their belt, they become eligible to test for their next belt. The belt test ceremony is a very special time where students can showcase their skills, break a board, and earn their certificate of achievement for passing their test and earning a new rank in their taekwondo journey.

What makes my students truly special is their unwavering dedication to taekwondo and their physical fitness. For about an hour each day, my students have the opportunity to switch their focus from their academic studies to the invigorating world of martial arts training. This dedicated time allows them to release any pent-up energy or frustrations, providing them with a healthy outlet for physical activity and mental well-being. Contributing to this project will not only provide my classes with the necessary supplies to improve our experience but will also inspire my students to dream big, set ambitious goals, and smash them!
