This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every kid loves comic books. I'm sure you did! The comic book section is one of the top attractions in our school library. Comic books, especially Japanese titles, appeal to our more reluctant readers (particularly the boys). We'd like to update our comic book section, with your help.

The school library is in a K-8 Center in Florida.

Our children tend to come from low-income households (over 80% receive free / reduced lunch). Their parents are often immigrants from Central or South America and the Caribbean. Over three fourths of our students are learning English as a second language. Put simply, these are disadvantaged kids who need a helping hand! Like kids everywhere, they love comic books.

My Project

They are especially fond of 'anime': Japanese-style comic books. One of our most popular 'anime' series is 'Naruto'. Over the years, some of our 'Naruto' books have gotten really dilapidated. We'd like to get some replacement copies. We'd also like to extend the series a little. Our collection went up to number 39 in the series. We'd like to acquire installments 40-49.

Comic books are a great way to attract reluctant readers to the library, and 'Naruto' is our most popular comic book series.

It really makes sense to maintain and extend our 'Naruto' collection. Also, remember that, by helping out a school library, your gift will impact hundreds of children over several years. Please help us to get those kids reading!
