This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Language Arts at an amazing 6th through 8th middle school, located in Miami Gardens. For the upcoming school year, I am assigned to be the sixth grade English Language Arts teacher.

We are a Title I institution and more than 90 percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Our students are very energetic and ready to learn new things. Despite the social-economic challenges they face and diverse needs, they always rise to the occasion and try to meet or exceed the goals set for them.

My Project

My students are eager to learn but due to their socioeconomic challenges, access everyday schools supplies or materials is very minimal.

I teach English Language Arts to 25-27 students at a time in a group setting and many times, my students come to class unequipped to work efficiently or fully participate.

Your donation towards basic stationery such as pencils and paper, would ensure that all of my students have the writing supplies needed. The FSA practice is to help build my students much-needed reading skills. My students need headphones for listening group activities and computer testing. The heavy duty sharpener is a much-needed accessory for our classroom.

Your support for our sixth grade reading class would ensure that our students have a jump start to a literacy-enriched school year.
