This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Bluebells, cockle shells, eevy, ivy, OVER!"

I remember jumping rope and singing songs during recess all the time!

Today, most students don't know any of the jump rope songs!

My students need as much time exercising and enjoying the fresh air as possible. Some of my students are involved in sports, but most are not. Many of our families cannot afford to enroll their kids in sports and find it difficult to make sure that their children get enough exercise outside of school.

My Project

"Cinderella dressed in yella', went upstairs to ... Come on, you remember this one?" I ask my students.

Guess what?

They don't know this jump rope rhyme or any other one for that matter! My students will use the jump ropes in this project to gain coordination and learn all of those fun rhymes that we knew as kids.

My students need to exercise more! Many of our families cannot afford to enroll their children in sports programs, so we need to provide many opportunities for the students to exercise at school. And what a fun way of getting some exercise! My students will be jumping and singing those rhymes from when we were kids.
