Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of working with 140 seventh graders as they navigate the awkward years of middle school. From ages 12 - 16, the students you are choosing to help are full of an unyielding optimism for their future. Over 90% of these incredible students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and face so many other obstacles in their lives.
Despite the barriers these students may face, they work hard to embrace the nature of the scientific inquiry.
These students are going through what can often be one of the most emotional and difficult times in their lives and deserve the same opportunities as their peers.
My Project
In a virtual learning environment, it can feel difficult for a student to feel like their work is being seen and appreciated. As we transition from hybrid to virtual instruction we want to make sure our students' hard work continues to celebrated.
More than ever, we must celebrate our students' perseverance and hard work.
These materials would allow us to print and distribute bright certificates to send our students. Your donation will help ensure that our students are feeling seen during these uncertain times. Instead of celebrating a single student of the week or month, our goal is to celebrate our students in a variety of areas: science, reading, writing, art, music, etc. It is important that we are recognizing the work of our kids wherever they succeed.
